The Man On The Hill.

The man on the hill

Stood up with a torch in his hands

Holding it steady, he shone it at the Moon

He said that if he turned it off

The Moon would be in shadow

And no one would see it.

I didn’t believe him

Until he turned his torch off

Although he said his batteries had run down

Nevertheless, the Moon was gone

Until someone else shined a torch

With longer-lasting batteries than this one.
