IDW Mutates Into Overdrive for New York Comic Con 2025 – Godzilla, TMNT, Trek, Takei & A Whole Lot of Tentacles (con news).
If you thought IDW was just bringing a polite little table and some glossy flyers to New York Comic Con 2025, think again, dear reader. The publisher is rolling into the Javits Center like a Kaiju in a good mood, armed with more panels, signings, and exclusives than you can shake a radioactive turtle shell at.
The schedule is so packed, it looks less like a publishing slate and more like the fever dream of a comics fan locked overnight in Forbidden Planet. Expect everything from Monster High to Godzilla, Star Trek to TMNT, The Twilight Zone to Street Sharks. (Yes, Street Sharks — the 1990s called, and they’re wearing shoulder pads the size of small asteroids.)
Wednesday warms up with NYPL Art Day — a genteel aperitif before the full con madness — featuring Nick Bertozzi, Dani Diaz, Kazimir Lee, Tracy Yardley, Ben Wickey, and Patrick Horvath, all no doubt armed with pens, wit, and caffeine.
Then Thursday explodes in a delightful maelstrom of mutants, monsters, and metaphorical mayhem. Ben Kahn and the Shudas open the gate with Monster High, before Art Adams — yes, that Art Adams — brings his finely inked monsters to the Godzilla table. TMNT get multiple turns in the spotlight, because clearly you can’t have too many ninja reptiles in one room, and P Moss introduces Screwing Sinatra (which sounds like either a noir thriller or a very peculiar musical).
Friday’s agenda reads like a mash-up between Comic-Con bingo and divine intervention. You’ve got Star Trek boldly going, The Last Ronin slicing back into our hearts, TMNT x Godzilla being the crossover no one knew they needed but everyone will now insist was destiny, and George Takei’s It Rhymes With Takei closing the weekend with charm, gravitas, and possibly a few well-aimed barbs. Wristbands are, naturally, required — because no mere mortal strolls up to George Takei unannounced.
Saturday is where the horror crowd gets its sweet revenge. The Exorcism at 1600 Penn (which sounds suspiciously like something that might happen during an American election year), 30 Days of Night: Falling Sun, and The Twilight Zone will all bring their particular brand of nightmare fuel to the stage. Throw in Return to Sleepy Hollow for good measure, and you’ve got a line-up that should come with free sage smudge sticks.
Sunday, at last, lets everyone down easy — or as easy as possible after that kind of schedule — with Sonic the Hedgehog: On the Go!, Street Sharks (still wild that’s real), and the delightfully philosophical Bridge Planet Nine.
Here at SFcrowsnest, we’re quietly impressed, mildly terrified, and entirely unprepared for the sheer volume of creative chaos IDW is about to unleash. Whether you’re a fan of monsters, mutants, mayhem, or George Takei’s majestic eyebrows, there’s something here for everyone.
So, sharpen your Sharpies, polish your cosplay helmets, and remember to hydrate. New York Comic Con 2025 is coming… and IDW isn’t just attending — it’s invading.
