If the embed won’t play, Netflix Korea’s post from the reunion is also here on X.
Spoilers for the first season follow, though it has been out since January 2022, so you’ve had time.
Lee Cheong-san is alive. Yoon Chan-young, who plays him, told a crowd in Seoul as much on Saturday, when the four leads of All of Us Are Dead made a surprise appearance at Netflix Janchi, the streamer’s fan festival celebrating ten years of Netflix in Korea. Park Ji-hu, Cho Yi-hyun and Lomon joined him on stage for a rare joint outing by the show’s core quartet, and Yoon put the speculation to rest in person.
The confirmation is welcome, if not exactly a shock. When we last saw Cheong-san at the end of season one, he had been bitten by the half-zombie bully Gwi-nam, dragged him into a lift shaft and vanished as the military firebombed the building around them both. In most zombie stories, that’s a funeral. But Netflix named Yoon among the returning cast when filming began in July 2025, and actors are seldom brought back for a second season to lie very still. Even so, there is something to be said for hearing it from the man himself, and the Hyosan faithful have waited long enough.
Season two moves the action out of Hyosan High and into Seoul, where Park Ji-hu’s Nam On-jo is now at university, trying to get on with her life until, this being a zombie drama, a fresh outbreak arrives to ruin her studies. Cho Yi-hyun’s Choi Nam-ra and Lomon’s Lee Su-hyeok are back, and the half-zombies, the so-called hambies who keep their minds while fighting the hunger, look set to play a bigger part. Lee Min-jae, Kim Si-eun, Yoon Ga-i and Roh Jae-won are among the new faces signed up to scream.
What Netflix did not offer was a release date. The show is billed simply as coming soon, and reports point to early 2027, which would put roughly five years between seasons. The renewal was announced at Geeked Week back in June 2022, three years before cameras rolled, which in zombie terms is long enough for the dead to have formed a residents’ association. Based on Joo Dong-geun’s webtoon, the first season was one of the hits that rode in behind Squid Game and helped make Korean genre television a fixture of British streaming queues. We reviewed it when it arrived.
Cheong-san has now survived a bite, a firebomb and a four-year production gap. After all that, freshers’ week ought to be a doddle.
