Doctor Who series 15 (or 40 depending on how you count): Episode 4, Lucky Day by Pete McTighe.
It seems every human companion of the Doctor who returns safely to Earth ends up being offered a job at UNIT. Yes, there are exceptions. Rose. The Ponds. Donna Noble. The fact that it now goes back to the Doctor’s past makes you wonder if any of the regenerations discussed this as a means for getting a job one day with that Torchwood group.
Anyway, where are we? Oh yes, 2007. Conrad sounds a lot like Amy Pond seeking the raggedy man, only with an ex-companion instead. You do have to wonder if Russell T is eyeing up guest stars as potential future Doctors. This is also really Ruby Sunday’s (a tress Molly Gibson) story as she dates Conrad Clark (actor Jonah Hauer-King). Warning: Spoilers ahead for the story. There’s a puzzle. Clark saw the TARDIS dematerialise. He almost came into contact with the Autons, but there was a spoiler. Kate Lethbridge-Stewart (actress Jemma Redgrave) is back. Yah! I doubt if <Think Tank> merchandise will sell.
Definitely can’t say much about this episode, but it really raced past. Oddly, it’s something Russell T could learn from, mostly for pace not being too tiring. What we don’t see is how UNIT and the UK government get things back to normal on the streets, let alone the rest of his group after so much unrest. I mean, how do you denounce them because you’re reaffirming alien invasions which, once upon a time lord, were never confirmed and mankind forgot? That’s for you to ponder.
‘Doctor Who Unleashed’ focuses on what happens after a companion is left behind. I do wonder on that, as we know the fates of other companions, thanks to the ‘Sarah Jane Adventures’. Sly nods to ‘Doctor Who’ history, but you do have to wonder how Clark can think things are fake unless he really is small-minded. It also reveals this story was filmed in 2023. You also learn to be a clapperboard operator.
Sorry for this one being so short, but when you see the spoiler, you’ll understand.
