Captain Scarlet: the making of a classic British scifi TV show (documentary: in full).

This 50-minute long documentary explains how classic British scifi TV show Captain Scarlet was brought to life via interviews with the cast and crew, including Gerry himself, Derek Meddings’ special effects, the voice actors, and the episode directors.

Captain Scarlet initially aired on regional ITV franchises between 1967 and 1968 and consists of thirty-two 25-minute episodes. Since then, the puppet-based animated show has been televised in more than 40 different nations.

The struggle between Earth and the Mysterons, a species of Martians with some degree of matter control, is the focus of the various episodes, which takes place in 2068. The Mysterons vow vengeance and unleash retaliatory attacks on Earth when human astronauts mistakenly strike their metropolis on Mars. Spectrum, a global security organisation, combats these incursions – luckily for humanity.
