Jacques Vallee, in this 2008 update of ‘Dimensions: A Case Book Of Alien Contact’, questions whether the pilots of the UAPs come from elsewhere. He draws examples from across the world and even the Bible, where there are sightings and contact going way back into our past. Where the Bible is concerned, I have to confess to finding it a grey area because so many people wrote it and there is a lot of fiction and contradiction in it. Even so, his point about the prophet Ezekiel encountering a chariot of fire that took him into the sky is one I have heard before. I doubt the similarities in modern-day contacts are because people have read that part of the Bible and it sank in, mostly because the UAPs are described there as chariots and elsewhere as things like shooting stars.
Earlier claims of landed vessels whose diminutive crews offered oatmeal to the owners as compensation for damaged fields come up a lot. Thing is, why isn’t it still happening and when did they stop? The ships were more ovoid than saucer-shaped and, at 30 feet high, you could hardly miss them.
It’s interesting how Vallee compares ancient fairy myths and legends of abduction to what we have today. Thinking about it, the interpretation could be down to the people at the time or the thoughts instilled in them. Even so, if they were doing things like that then, why change the MO in present times? I mean, dancing with fairies has to be less scary than intimidating medical examinations. We should also take into account that we are probably seeing different species. These early ‘aliens’ were a lot hairier than the bald greys seen today, although both shared a similar height. There was also a ten-foot-tall variety. Vallee argues that, as they have been living on Earth for a long time, we shouldn’t think of them as visiting extra-terrestrials. I would contest that. Simply because they’ve been here so long doesn’t mean that they aren’t alien, just that they’re investigative colonists. Considering the distance and the limitations of faster-than-light travel, any alien species is going to keep a colony on any world it is observing. Whether they can live in an interdimensional world with a different rate of time is more questionable, unless they see it as a means to extend their own lifespans.
Another area I have problems with is how their MO changes over the centuries. I mean, considering how they were seen as fairy folk, the more science-oriented approach now is a drastic change. Vallee also points out that some of these species lived amongst humans for a period without too many problems. If they could pass for human so well, why didn’t they continue?
Vallee makes a valid point about checking all UFO witnesses and contactees for psionic and healing abilities afterwards, especially as he finds evidence that this happens a lot and is frequently overlooked. Vallee’s own background is in the nature of information which, to me, translates into looking into everything associated with sightings and contact. I would also be inclined to check whether the witnesses had ESP talent before their encounters, which might explain why they were singled out as points of interest. I doubt the UAP pilots want to work with raw cloth.
The investigation of several ‘miracle’ appearances in Portugal and France bears comparison to UAP activity. You’ll have to read those chapters yourself. It does look like the pilots are testing human reactions to manifestations. Translated into modern terms, the manifestations look like a form of hologram with a touch of smoke and mirrors. The fact that they’ve stopped doing them does suggest either the end of the experiment or a need to adapt to something more relevant to the present. Perhaps the next step will be a proper land-and-greet, assuming they read my reviews, but that would change things permanently.
The end chapters reiterate that the aliens live on Earth and might not be aliens. As noted above, just because they’ve been here a long time doesn’t mean they didn’t come from another planet. I did a check and Man has only examined about 50% of the land masses, so there are plenty of places for any number of alien species to live or hide, and that’s before we get to the oceans, which are also favoured. Even so, any colony would need to be concerned not just with protecting itself from terrestrial infections but also with growing its own food. Any species capable of stealth with its vehicles is capable of hiding from humans.
I’m less sure about the number of sightings we miss. When Vallee includes the periods when we are asleep, he comes up with 3 million missed sightings. That would practically be another world going on that we aren’t seeing. I agree we must be missing some sightings, and I suspect whoever is piloting doesn’t care too much unless they are running tests and doing whatever they are doing. I did a Google search for my town and UAPs and some sightings came up. Not recently, mind you, but I suspect if you do it for wherever you live, you’re likely to get the same result. Even so, three million would be stretching things, in my opinion.
This book will make you think. Vallee is not afraid to question things, and his findings of matches from before 1947 show how far back they’ve been here. Worth your attention.
