Invasion series 3 [Apple TV scifi series]
Invasion—the Apple TV+ series that dares to ask, “What if an alien apocalypse wasn’t merely loud and explodey, but also quite determined to ruin everyone’s relationships along the way?”
The newly dropped teaser for Season 3 confirms that the alien hordes are back, more glowy and tentacle-y than ever, and humanity’s finest are about to make the boldest move yet: actually coordinating for once.
For the uninitiated (or those who nodded off halfway through Season 2’s melancholy drone shots), Invasion is an ambitious sci-fi tapestry chronicling the alien onslaught via multiple perspectives scattered across the globe. Think War of the Worlds meets This Is Us, but with more cosmic body horror and fewer endearing family dinners.
In this third outing, all the simmering character arcs are finally converging, as the survivors are compelled to put aside their mutual suspicion and tragic backstories to infiltrate the alien mothership itself. Because obviously, nothing cements international camaraderie like climbing aboard a pulsating extraterrestrial doom fortress.
The returning cast includes Golshifteh Farahani, Shioli Kutsuna, Shamier Anderson, India Brown, Shane Zaza, and Enver Gjokaj—all of whom look suitably stressed in the teaser, as if they’ve collectively realised there’s no amount of group therapy that will prepare them for face-to-face negotiations with apex aliens. Erika Alexander also joins the ensemble, presumably to offer fresh perspectives on exactly how doomed we all are.
Apple’s teaser makes it clear that the stakes have never been higher: the aliens’ tendrils are spreading with all the enthusiasm of bindweed in an English garden, and if our plucky band of survivors can’t cooperate, humanity’s toast. But will they be able to suppress their various traumas and squabbles long enough to save the species, or will the season finale simply be an hour of everyone crying in separate corners of the mothership?
Here at SFcrowsnest magazine, we do love a good tale of global catastrophe, and Invasion remains one of the more ambitious entries in the modern alien-invasion canon. Its blend of character-driven angst and sleek sci-fi dread is rather like if Netflix’s Dark and Roland Emmerich’s entire filmography had a thoughtful, vaguely miserable baby.
So mark your calendars for August 22nd 2025, when Season 3 beams onto Apple TV+—and prepare for another round of stylish despair, beautifully composed shots of Earth’s impending ruin, and the lingering suspicion that humanity’s greatest enemy isn’t aliens at all…it’s our own inability to get along.
Mothership or bust.
