Ultramarines: A Warhammer 40,000 movie… good news, bad news.

We’ve got some good news and we’ve got some bad news. The good news is that the Warhammer 40K film, Ultramarines: A Warhammer 40,000 Movie, is coming soon. The bad news is that it looks like the between-scenes animation sequences of a not very good 3D shooter game, with (in our opinion) not very good renders and a level of art last seen in 2002’s various Duke Nuke’em-alikes. Oh well, win some, lose some.

  • The movie was actually released in 2010 and available from its website on DVD. The blu-ray release is new and it looks like they have repackaged the DVD, which used to be in a steelbook case.

As far as the film goes, I found it entertaining enough. The faces of the marines tended to look alike so at times it was confusing as to who was who. The voice cast was pretty solid though, with the likes of Terence stamp, John Hurt, Sean Pertwee, and Donald Sumpter adding some street cred’.

I do hope they fixed the typos in the DVD menus before they remastered the film for BR…
