Throughout the 1990s, science fiction television was dominated by the Star Trek series. Galaxy Quest, however, was one of several Star Trek-influenced films to appear on the big screen. This adoring parody of Star Trek and other sci-fi franchises has cemented itself as a treasured classic in popular culture. The transition from writing to screen, however, wasn’t as seamless as one would anticipate.
