“The Ark” is an upcoming science fiction mystery television series set to air on Syfy in February 2023. Created by Dean Devlin and co-showrunner Jonathan Glassner, the series follows the story of Lt. Sharon Garnet and the crew of the Ark One, an interstellar vessel carrying humanity’s survivors as they flee a dying Earth. When unforeseen circumstances kill off a significant portion of the passengers, including the leaders, the remaining crew must work together in order to complete their mission and find a new home for their species.

The series stars Christie Burke as Lt. Garnet, as well as Richard Fleeshman, Reece Ritchie, Stacey Read, and Ryan Adams. Set aboard the Ark One, a self-sustaining city floating through space, the series explores the characters’ deepest fears and their tendency towards cruelty as they face the challenges of a damaged ship and dwindling resources.

According to Devlin in an interview on SyFy, he and Glassner’s complementary writing styles and shared passion for science fiction make for a strong creative partnership. “Jonathan writes to please himself, he writes to do the kind of science fiction that he wants to see [and] that he’s not seeing,” Devlin said. “Our sensibilities – while they’re not exactly the same – complement each other really well … He just brings a wealth of storytelling and character development.” With its focus on character development and survival in a confined space, “The Ark” promises to be a compelling and thought-provoking series.
