Geostorm: 2nd trailer from Independence Day creator blows in.
The weather gets weaponized in upcoming scifi movie Geostorm … the worse case of weather control-based terrorism since the Sov Block hacked Mega City One’s system to unleash hail (I was tempted to use the example of Rupert the Bear in ‘Rupert and the Weather Machine’, but figured that would lose all our North American readers).
This bad boy is fromย Dean Independence Dayย Devlin.
Here’s the film’s official blurb:
After an unprecedented series of natural disasters threatened the planet, the worldโs leaders came together to create an intricate network of satellites to control the global climate and keep everyone safe. But now, something has gone wrongโthe system built to protect the Earth is attacking it, and itโs a race against the clock to uncover the real threat before a worldwide geostorm wipes out everything…and everyone along with it.
Dean Devlin (writer/producer, โIndependence Dayโ) makes his feature film directorial debut with suspense thriller โGeostorm,โ starring Gerard Butler (โOlympus Has Fallen,โ โ300โ), Jim Sturgess (โCloud Atlasโ), Abbie Cornish (โLimitlessโ), Alexandra Maria Lara (โRushโ), Daniel Wu (โThe Man with the Iron Fists,โ โWarcraft: The Beginningโ), with Oscar nominees Ed Harris (โThe Hours,โ โApollo 13โ) and Andy Garcia (โThe Godfather: Part IIIโ).
Butler stars as Jake, a scientist who, along with his brother, Max, played by Sturgess, is tasked with solving the satellite programโs malfunction. Cornish stars as Secret Service agent Sarah Wilson; Lara as Ute Fassbinder, the ISS astronaut who runs the space station; Wu as Cheng, the Hong Kong-based supervisor for the Dutch Boy Program; with Garcia as U.S. President Andrew Palma; and Harris as Secretary of State Leonard Dekkom.
Should be with us in the cinema by October 2017.
