Beyond White Space (scifi movie trailer: Moby Dick in space).

Here’s the movie trailer for Beyond White Space, a new science fiction film which looks like the creators have been playing the space-based SF strategy game Stellaris … as the film, like the game, is set in a far future where the void is chock-filled with living space creatures, and mankind – being mankind – hunts them, of course.

Here’s the official blurb:

A deep space hunting vessel owned by AmberCorp encounters a rare void creature, giant in size and highly territorial. Could this be the same monster that killed the skipper’s father? A feral band of pirates steal their season’s catch. With no cargo to sell and few supplies, the captain makes a suicidal decision … they’ll venture into uncharted territory and capture the creature for illegal sale on the black market.

This looks like it has a decent FX budget and at the very least it’s nice to see an original SF film without a comic-book spin-off angle to its name, or being just another derivative re-boot.
