Foundation season 3: The Mule kicks back? (trailer)
Apple TV+ returns to the far-future poker table with Foundation: Season 3, dealing out a fresh hand of space politics, telepathic tyrants, and existential dreadโpremiering July 11th. Strap in, sci-fi faithful. Things are getting Mule-ish.
Itโs been 152 years since Season 2, and while none of us look a day older (thanks, cryo-sleep and Appleโs soft-light filters), the galaxyโs looking decidedly worse for wear. The once-mighty Cleonic Empire is sagging at the seams, and the Foundation is no longer the scrappy underdog but a proper power playerโthink less ragtag rebels, more bureaucratic Jedi with a spreadsheet.
Enter The Mule, the series’ long-teased mutant menace, now stomping his way across the stars with a telepathic tantrum and a wardrobe straight out of Sith Chic. Heโs not just here to conquerโhe wants to dominate minds. So yes, weโve now graduated from slow-burn maths to full-blown mental manipulation.
Hari Seldon is still hovering around like a smug algorithmic ghost, while Gaal Dornick continues her tour of “Horrifying Realisations I Canโt Do Anything About.” Meanwhile, the Cleon clones are busily imploding in a succession crisis that would make Succession look like Blue Peter, and Demerzel remains the galaxyโs most terrifying HR manager.
The trailer promises lavish visuals, galactic warfare, and enough brooding to fuel a black hole. If you came for Asimovโs philosophical musings, theyโre still hereโonly now dressed up in high-concept action and operatic plotting that makes Game of Thrones look like Emmerdale.
Here at SFcrowsnest, we approve of any show where the fate of the universe depends on maths, mutants, and malfunctioning monarchs. And while psychohistory may predict the arc of empires, it clearly didnโt account for streaming algorithms and fan theories.
Watch Foundation Season 3 on Apple TV+ from July 11th 2025. Just remember: trust no clone. Especially not the one quoting statistics.
