World getting weirder

UFO/UAP news roundup (28th June 2025).

Here’s the semi-irregular round-up of all the best new content that is fit to print, and some that probably isn’t, concerning the topic of UFOs, UAPs, and a sugary side-dollop of woo.

We’ve also bundled the semi-regular geo-politics/tech outlook to the end, given it’s getting onto Winter and things are still rather quiet.

You want aliens? We’ve got aliens. But you had better look under the ocean for them, though, quips the Dolan(oid) to Danny J.

There’s disinfo, and then, there’s UFO disinfo, it seems.

A look at the science behind UFO craft engines.

Is ET trying to phone us at home? Maybe!

What does the U.S. space defence grid have to do with fighting off possible alien invasions? More than you might think, apparently.

How badly are we being gas-lit that all UFO activity is really just U.S. dark ops which they would like us to blame on E.T?

If your idea of a relaxing afternoon involves contemplating the engineering specifications of a Dyson sphere while sipping tea and wondering whether the universe is a simulation run by alien teenagers with poor impulse control, then congratulations—this podcast is your jam. In this splendidly cosmic chinwag, Professor David Kipping of Columbia University joins Robinson for a sprawling three-hour conversation that fires the imagination straight into the exoplanetary stratosphere. Kipping, who heads the Cool Worlds Lab (both a real-world research centre and a YouTube channel for those who prefer their science with a snazzy intro theme), takes us on a guided tour of the frontiers of astro-theorising and alien-spotting.

Topics tackled with unflappable enthusiasm include the Kardashev scale (how to rate your alien civilisations, from meek spacefarers to galaxy-rearranging demigods), megastructures (your basic planet-sized construction projects), and whether it’s statistically inevitable that we’re living in a simulation—and if so, whether the render distance explains why your socks keep vanishing in the wash. The podcast dives into heavy-hitters like the Great Filter, Oumuamua (that cigar-shaped cosmic gatecrasher), quantum immortality (insert confused but intrigued blinking meme here), time travel, warp drives, and the possibility that Earth is the galactic equivalent of a dodgy AirBnB listing. There’s also a delicious bit of speculation about engineering our own sun—presumably not with duct tape.

When it comes to the US government and UFOs, there are mirrors behind the mirrors (hiding behind more mirrors).

In this week’s episode of The Ross Files (unofficial title, but it ought to be), our favourite Aussie investigative journo turns his lens not just on mysterious aerial phenomena, but also on the murmurs, whispers, and government-shaped shadows surrounding them. Is he being silenced? Are drones not really drones? Is something dramatic lurking in the calendar year 2027, just waiting to burst out and ruin our summer holidays? Spoiler: Coulthart has thoughts. And probably receipts. He weighs in on the AARO director’s curious nod to the NIH (because when your Pentagon task force starts name-dropping the National Institutes of Health, you know something bonkers is afoot), drops new revelations about the infamous drone incursion (which might not involve drones at all, because of course not), and delicately unpacks the apocalyptic rumour du jour: something big is allegedly coming in 2027. Probably not a Bake Off special, then.

Greenland, meanwhile, may or may not be the Area 51 of the North Atlantic, humans might all secretly be psychic (although presumably still terrible at parking), and if you see a UFO, Ross has some handy tips that don’t involve waving your mobile around like a confused flamingo. Rounding out the show is Coulthart’s ever-sober analysis of the David Grusch lawsuit—because nothing says “serious national disclosure situation” quite like legal documents flying about like frisbees at a congressional picnic.

A look at the re-heating of Star Wars for Golden Dome in the USA. UFO secrets involved? Maybe!

How China is still planning to out-plan the West over the long term to be top dog among nations.

How many jobs will A.I. remove from the white-collar workforce over the next few years? Hey, how about all of them!

Quantum computing might just be about to take off a lot faster than most folks had believed possible.

Space-X is getting some serious contenders trying to snatch the rocketry crown.
